4 students t-12 or better after day 1 at NY State Am
- John @ 10:50 pm EST This year, the championship will be 4 rounds of stroke play. There will be a cut to the low 40 and ties after round two and then there will be a 36 hole final round.

Shane Dobesh wins first tournament!!

Jake Reimer(Blue Heron Hills CC) shot a hole in one at the 18th hole at Brook Lea Invitational. Jake ended up with a 71 and is 1 shot back of the leaders.
Joe Colosi(Wildwood CC) won the RDGA Junior Match Play Championship to day that was being held at the Country Club of Mendon. Joe will be a senior at Finney HS and is currently preparing to challenge at the NY State Junior Championship.
Joe Colosi(Wildwood CC), Joe Drummond(Wildwood CC)and Corey Rothfuss(Blue Heron Hills CC) won their first two matches to advance into the final eight at the RDGA Junior Championship.
I am very proud of my students work this past week. 7 players qualified for the event and 5 made the cut after two days. All 5 of those players received an exemption into the event next year due to the fact they finished T-20th or better. Here are their results:
This year's state am is being played locally at Ravenwood GC and a bunch of students are playing very well. Here's a quick summary:
Kevin Kaye is in 5th
Al Weir is tied for 9th
Chris Malec is tied for 15th
Jacob Reimer is tied for 19th.

Joe and Danny Drummond(both at Wildwood CC) played well at the WNYPGA event held at Cobblestone Creek CC. Joe shot a 76 to finish 3rd(in the 16-18 age group) and Danny shot a 77 to finish 2nd inthe 13-15 age group. Joe will be a junior and Danny will be a freshman as both attend Finney HS.
Shane Dobesh(Brookwoods) played well in his last two WNYPGA events held at Lancaster CC and Cobblestone Creek CC. Shane fired a round of 76 at Lancaster for a 3rd place finish. At Cobblestone, Shane shot his lowest tournament score ever with a 1 under par 71 to win the event by one stroke. Shane will be a senior at Webster Schroeder HS in the Fall.

Sarah Tranelli(Penfield CC) won the last two WNYPGA Junior events held at Lancaster CC and Cobblestone Creek CC. Sarah shot an 80 at Lancaster and a 77 at Cobblestone. She is just starting to return after a wrist injury earlier in the summer. Once again she is attending Ohio University on a partial golf scholarship.
Day 1 of the NY State Amateur at Ravenwood GC is over and 4 players are t-12 or better. Chris Malec(Blue Heron Hill CC) and Kevin Kaye(Wildwood CC) are tied for 5th with 1 under 71's. Jake Reimer(Blue Heron Hills CC) is tied for 9th after an even par 72. Last years runnr-up Tom Muto, Jr is tied for 12 after a 73.
