Scott Harris, Jr. Wins Nicklaus and Palmer Awards!!!! - John @ 8:05 pm EST
Scott Harris, Jr. (CC of Mendon) had a week to remember last week. He led his St. John Fisher golf team to a 3rd place finish at the NCAA Div III National Championship. He won the Arnold Palmer Award which is given to the NCAA Div III Individual Champion after his four day total of 285.
He was also selected as the 2008 Jack Nicklaus Award recipient which is presented to the Player of the Year for Div's I, II, and III. Scott will receive his award from Jack Nicklaus personally at the Memorial Tournament in a few weeks.

Congratulations Scott!!! Nicklaus, that's big time!!!!


Tom Muto Second Team All-American for NCAA Div III - John @ 7:55 pm EST
Tom Muto (Sodus Bay Heights) was selected as a Second Team All-American at the year ending Division III Awards Dinner. Tom placed 9th with a 296 total at the 2008 NCAA Div III National Championship.

Tom is a sophomore at St John Fisher College former graduate of North Rose/Wolcott Schools.

Bobby McCartney third team All-American for NCAA Division III - John @ 7:50 pm EST
Bobby McCartney (Webster GC) a senior at St. John Fisher was selected as a Third Team All-American after this year's Natinoal Championship. Bobby placed 33rd with a 4 day total of 304 and help the Cards to a strong 3rd place finish.

Great Job Bobby!!!


Tessa Teachman gets in the LPGA Corning Classic! - John @ 7:43 pm EST
Former student, Tessa Teachman (Baton Rouge, LA), is preparing to compete in her 2nd LPGA Corning Classic this week. Tessa was prepared to compete in a qualifier when the tournament committee informed her that the tournament received a few withdrawls and a qualifier would not be necessary.

Tessa last played in this event as a 15 year old and has good memories of the course.

Brian McKenna qualifies for states!!! - John @ 7:39 pm EST
Brian McKenna (Penfield CC) shot 78 at Stafford CC during the Section V Championship to be one of the low nine scores and advance to NYS High School Championship.

The state tournament is played at the RTJ GC at Cornell and will take place in a couple of weeks.

Chris Malec Co-Medals at Sectional Qualifier!! - John @ 12:33 pm EST
Chris Malec (Blue Heron Hills CC) shot 72 to share medalist honors with Gavin Hall (CC of Mendon) at The Brookwoods during the Tournament of Champions. Chris advances to the state qualifier on Monday at Stafford CC.

Brian McKenna advances to the state qualifier!! - John @ 12:31 pm EST
Brian McKenna (Penfield CC) shot an 81 at The Brookwoods to qualify for the state qualifier at Stafford CC on Monday. 81 put Brian in a tie for 10th and right on the number to advance.

Danny Drummond Wins!!! - John @ 9:30 pm EST
Danny Drummond (Wildwood CC) shot a 39 and won in a playoff to claim medalist honors at the Section V Junior Varsity Tournament of Champions.

Danny is in 7th grade and plays for McQuaid.

Tessa Teachman medals at US Women's Open Local Qualifying - John @ 12:06 pm EST
Tessa Teachman (Baton Rouge, LA) shot a 71 to win the US Women's Open local qualifying tournament in Pittsburgh. Tessa, originally from Webster, NY, and former student will be playing in the second round of qualifying at Pinehurst, NC in a couple weeks.

She will be competing in the amateur qualifier for the LPGA Corning Classic on Saturday. Tessa qualified for the tournament a few years ago and threatened to make the cut as a 15 year old.

Brian McKenna ties for 16th at AJGA Preseason at CC of Mendon - John @ 11:55 am EST
Brian McKenna (Penfield CC) shot 80-78=158 over twon very windy days to place in a tie for 16th place. Brian was also medalist at the Tournament of Champions qualifier to get into the sectional qualifier at the Brookwoods this thursday.

Joe Colosi ties for 2nd at AJGA Preseason at CC of Mendon - John @ 11:52 am EST
Joe Colosi (Wildwood CC) battled heavy wins over the 2 days to fire 76-75=151 to tie for 2nd place. Winner, Ryan McCormick, shot 69-77=146 to win by 5. Joe's 2nd place finish should give him enough stars to play in an open sometime this summer.

Joe is a junior at Finney and will be competing at the state qualifier next week.

Chris Malec places 6th at AJGA Preseason in Chicago!! - John @ 11:45 am EST
Chris Malec (Blue Heron) fired scores of 77-72=149 to place in 6th. Chris' 6th place finish was 9 shots behind winner Matt Hageman and earned him enough stars to apply for an AJGA open coming up next month.

Chris will be attending MCC in the fall and is sure to be an immediate impact player.

Tyler Phillips wins!!! - John @ 11:40 am EST
Tyler Phillips (Brookwoods CC) shot a career best 69 to win his sectional qualifier at Blue Heron Hills CC. Birdies came on 1 and 18 with 16 pars while hitting 17 greens that day.

Tyler will attempt to qualify for states at Stafford CC on Monday.

Taylor Page wins again! - John @ 11:37 am EST
Taylor Page continues his hot spring with a win at the sectional qualifier played at Stafford CC. Taylor's score of 73 bested all other competitors and gives him a nice preview of the course which will play host to the state qualifier next week.

Kevin Kaye qualifies for Nationals as an individual - John @ 11:34 am EST
MCC's number 1 player placed 2nd at the Region III Championship which qualified him for the National Championship. Kevin is playing his final year of MCC golf and currently ranks inside the top 10 nationally.

MCC season comes to an early end - John @ 11:32 am EST
The MCC Tribunes placed 4th at the region III golf championship Monday. TC3 and Broome CC qualified for the national tournament as the first and second place teams respectively.
