Hey everyone. Just wanted to keep you to up to date with the happenings at the PGA Merchandise Show this year. The 3rd Annual Tweet Up will be held on Thursday, January 24th, 2013 at the Brick House Tavern + Tap on International Drive, not far from the convention center. It will begin at 7pm and gathering out on the patio.
This year’s Tweet up is being organized by Sara Dickson and Ricky Lee Potts. Contact them on twitter if you have questions or concerns. I will not be in attendance this year as it’s my son’s birthday that day but want to make sure everyone knows about this fun event. We’ve closed the bar the last two years so if you can’t arrive till later it won’t be an issue. Each year, the event has grown and I hope that continues.
This is a great chance to meet face to face with the people you’ve been tweeting with and build your network of like minded professionals. Wish I could be there and have fun everyone.

7 Nights at the Twitter Academy was a concept developed by Jason Helman from Ontario, Canada. It was originally designed to showcase professionals offering instruction across various disciplines in the golf industry that students tend to struggle with. The first 7 Nights focused mostly on the adult golfer.
This latest version focuses on the future of our great game – Junior Golf. For the last 7 nights, professionals from all over the US have been offering up 5-10 minute videos covering different topics related to teaching juniors. Topics range from Elite Juniors to first time players. Here’s is a summary of the last 7 days.
I hope you enjoy. BTW my video is the final one and talks about an experiment in teaching touch to a very new golfer.
Announcing the Official Site for the 2012 PGA Show Tweetup. We will be getting together at a place called the Brick House on Thrusday, January 26th at 8pm. For those that didn’t make it last year, a Tweet Up is simply a get together of people that know each other through Twitter. Last year, I organized my first tweet up at the show and it turned out to be a fantastic success. We ended up spending the entire night there and closed down the bar.
Based on last year’s success and our growing twitter networks, I expect this tweet up to be larger than last year. It is a great opportunity to meet the people you have been tweeting with for the past year. Last year I think we had almost 30 people in and out through the night so I’m hopeful that this year we get around 40 or so.
Please pass this around to those you know by sharing it on Twitter and Facebook. I will certainly be mentioning it in many places online.
Here’s a map of it’s location along with their telephone number.
7 Nights of the Twitter Academy. This idea born from Jason Helman is designed to match the Golf Channels 7 Nights of their Academy. It will feature 7 Top Coaches that have extensive Twitter followings. Each night, one of the coaches will showcase a subject specific video with each coach taking on a different subject.
It should be a great opportunity for golfers to get some additional information from some top coaches. It starts tomorrow night, Dec. 12th at 8:00pm and runs for 7 nights. Topics covered will be Putting, Driving, Chipping, Approach Irons, Mid and Long Irons, Bunkers and Club Fitting with the order of information from the green outwards.
I know all of these coaches well and I’m really looking forward to see what they have come up with. I also hope that this starts some kind of regular thing because I think it is a great idea to showcase great information in a medium that is different than where most go to find good golf information. I can tell you from experience that Twitter is one of the best places to go for good golf information and I hope the 7 Nights of the Twitter Academy brings home that point.
Here are a couple trailers to view.
In order to watch the Twitter videos, you’ll want to follow the presenters. Here’s is the order they will appear and their Twitter Usernames so you can follow them. Click on their name to go to their website and their twitter handle to follow them.
I hope you watch and enjoy. If you think others might be interested in this, please consider sharing by using the social media buttons below or by forwarding this email to friends.
Just wanted to share a little something that I was asked to participate in the other night. Here’s a link to an article written on the PGA.com website by John Kim talking about the use of Twitter by golf professionals and it’s uses for the golfing public.
My goal is to improve my students’ scores. As simple as it sounds, I believe this is the reason most people take instruction.
On a case by case basis, I will determine a track for improvement as appropriate for each person's skill level including, but not limited to: swing changes, short game work, course management, and mental game improvements.
I believe it is not only my responsibility to teach the golf swing, but the entire game, from rules and etiquette to physical fitness and tournament preparation.
John Graham Golf welcomes golfers of all different levels of skill and ambition.
